Summer Engagement Session in North Loop, Minneapolis | Sarah + Joe

See why the North Loop neighborhood of Minneapolis is one of the best settings for an engagement session in all of the Twin Cities!

Sarah and Joe’s engagement session had a bit of everything. Classy coffee shop vibes, champagne popping, a little bit of dancing, and a whole lot of love. Documenting this chapter of their lives in such a wonderful setting like Minneapolis’ North Loop made the engagement session SO much fun from start to finish. I’m so glad that their lovely wedding venue, The Aisling, recommended me, and I cannot wait for their wedding day in August!

Their Engagement Session in Minneapolis’ North Loop

The North Loop of Minneapolis is one of my favorite places to have an engagement session for a number of reasons. For starters, there are just SO many wonderful coffee shops, breweries, bars, restaurants, and other businesses that are a ton of fun to incorporate into these photos. For Sarah and Joe’s session, we chose to start at the stunning Backstory Coffee Roasters, which is just THE most beautiful coffee shop. The beautifully decorated, wonderfully lit interior of Backstory made for the perfect starting setting for our session.

The streets that make up Minneapolis’ North Loop are amazing in their own right, and are another reason why I love photographing engagement sessions here. Just outside of the coffee shop, Sarah, Joe, and I were greeted with the iconic brick buildings and side streets that make up the neighborhood. We busted out some champagne for the occasion, and had THE best time together. Photographing these two literally felt like hanging out with old friends. They’re so sweet, SO much fun, and were completely down for all of my ideas! Towards the end of our session we made our way to a nearby park which just gave us the perfect summer vibes to end on. Just another reason to love the incredible North Loop!

Making Your Engagement Session Feel Like You

There’s quite a bit to think about when it comes to planning your engagement session. From choosing the right outfit(s) to wear, to deciding on which locations to include, and even when to have your session, there’s a lot to consider. One important thing that sometimes gets overlooked though is making your engagement photos feel true to you! Thankfully there are a ton of ways to go about this. You can do something direct like including your favorite hobbies into your session, or something a little more nuanced that aligns with your personalities.

Using Sarah and Joe’s session as an example, near the end of their session the two started practicing some dance moves with my diffraction that they’ll be able to incorporate into their first dance. It was such a fun, lighthearted moment where their bubbly personalities could really take center stage, and it made for the perfect personal moment for their engagement session in Minneapolis’ North Loop!

I absolutely loved working with Sarah and Joe, and I cannot wait to document their incredible wedding day next year! As you may know, I’m a huge fan of documenting my couples’ engagement session as well as their wedding day. If you’d like to book me to document both of these important moments in your lives be sure to send me an inquiry today!
