This past May I had the pleasure of taking Samantha and Kevin’s engagement photos in Bloomington, Minnesota. Their session took place on a warm, sunny, summer day, which is the perfect metaphor for their relationship. The three of us had so much fun throughout their session, and I loved how they both had a vision for the day while also being down to try any and every idea I had. Let’s get into their engagement session, with our first stop being the Hyland Lake Park Reserve!
Engagement Photos at Hyland Lake Park Reserve in Bloomington
We started off Samantha and Kevin’s engagement session on a more formal note, with Samantha wearing a beautiful white dress and Kevin sporting khakis and a light blue button up. Even in their more formal attire, Samantha and Kevin were down to lie together in the fields of the park, or dance with one another surrounded by the beauty of the forest. These are only a few of the stunning settings to choose from for engagement photos within Bloomington’s Hyland Lake Park Reserve. The park also features plenty of walking paths, lakes, and even a few beaches to enjoy as backdrops for photos. Once we had the photos we wanted from the Hyland Lake Park Reserve we headed just a few miles south to our next location.
Our second and final location for their engagement photos was the Minnesota Valley Country Club which is also in Bloomington. I love that Samantha and Kevin chose this location, not only because it’s simply gorgeous, but the two also have a personal connection to golf and the country club itself! You see, Kevin has actually golfed here many times with his family in the past, so there’s a bit of a personal connection for him. In addition to that, when the two were visiting Kevin’s parent’s vacation home in Palm Springs Kevin actually proposed to Samantha while on the patio which just so happens to overlook a golf course.
This helped to make an already special and emotional time for Samantha and Kevin all the more impactful! During this part of their session the two had on their cutest golfing outfits, and we had so many opportunities for unique settings and prop usage. Between sharing a bottle of diet coke (Samantha’s fav beverage), riding around in the golf cart together, practicing their puts together, and a fair bit of competition on the putting green, it was a perfect showcase of how fun an engagement session can be!
I truly had THE best time documenting Samantha and Kevin’s engagement photos at some of their favorite locations in Bloomington, Minnesota. These two have such a pure and easygoing love for one another that I adore, and I cannot wait for the two to have their wedding in 2025!
